Important Update: Changes to Our Fishing Schedule for 2025 and Beyond

Important Update: Changes to Our Fishing Schedule for 2025 and Beyond
Old Man Winter Wind is Against Us During Winter Season
Dear Valued GulfStar Guests,
First and foremost, thank you.
Your trust and enthusiasm for our fishing adventures mean the world to us. At GulfStar Deep Sea Fishing, our mission is to help you create unforgettable memories on the water—moments you can share with family and friends for years to come.
We know that planning a multi-day fishing trip is a big commitment. It takes time, coordination, and excitement. Unfortunately, the unpredictable weather during the winter months—those relentless “Old Man Winter” winds—can make that process frustrating for everyone.
We’ve seen it time and time again: trips canceled last minute, plans disrupted, and excitement dashed by uncontrollable weather conditions.
It’s not fair to you, to our hardworking crew, or to our business.
So, after a lot of careful consideration, we’ve decided to adjust our approach
and adapt to nature rather than fight it.
What’s Changing and Why
From Mid-October to Mid-March, we will no longer offer offshore multi-day fishing trips. Instead, we’re excited to shift our focus to day and night trips ranging from 5 to 12 hours during this period. These shorter trips will allow us to provide the most reliable and enjoyable fishing experience possible while embracing the excellent inshore fishing opportunities that winter offers.
From Mid-March to Mid-October, our offshore multi-day trips will remain in full swing. The warmer months provide the perfect combination of calm seas, warm breezes, and predictable weather conditions that make scheduling multi-day trips smoother and more dependable. With these ideal conditions, you can look forward to a truly enjoyable fishing adventure without the worry of last-minute changes.
This decision wasn’t made lightly, and we’d like to share why this change is the best way forward:
1. Unpredictable Weather Challenges
Winter weather can be notoriously harsh, often forcing us to cancel up to 70% of our scheduled trips. And when trips do go out, rough seas and chilly winds can make for less-than-ideal conditions. Rather than battling “Mother Nature,” we’ve chosen to work with her, ensuring your trips are safer and more enjoyable.
2. Fairness to You, Our Guests
We understand how frustrating it is to plan a big multi-day trip only to see it canceled. By offering shorter trips during the winter months, we can provide more dependable adventures, allowing you to make the most of your time and enjoy the fantastic inshore fishing this season has to offer.
3. Calm and Predictable Summer Conditions
The spring and summer months offer reliable weather patterns with gentler seas and warmer temperatures, creating a perfect environment for our offshore multi-day trips. These predictable conditions make it easier to schedule trips well in advance with confidence, giving you peace of mind as you prepare for your adventure. The calm waters enhance the overall experience, ensuring that you can focus on fishing and making lifelong memories.
4. Respect for Our Crew
Our dedicated crew works tirelessly to prepare for every trip, even when the odds of leaving the dock are slim. This adjustment allows us to better support their efforts and create a more sustainable schedule that benefits everyone.
5. Sustainability for the Business
Frequent cancellations don’t just impact you—they affect the entire GulfStar team. By adapting to the conditions, we can maintain a more stable operation and continue to offer incredible fishing opportunities year-round.
What’s Staying the Same:
From Mid-March to Mid-Octobe, our offshore multi-day trips will continue as scheduled, with two trips per week during the best months for Deep Sea Fishing. These thrilling adventures will deliver the unforgettable offshore experiences you know and love, with the added dependability of the calm, warm seas this season provides.
Thank You for Your Support
We deeply appreciate your understanding and loyalty as we make this transition. Our goal has always been to provide you with the best fishing experience possible, and we’re confident this change will help us deliver on that promise.
Whether it’s a day trip in the winter or an extended offshore adventure in the summer, we can’t wait to welcome you aboard and help you create more incredible fishing memories.
Our NEW and UPDATED 2025 Fishing schedule will be released soon.
Tight Lines,
Capt. Paul Forsberg
