4 Day Deep Drop Fishing Report

🎣 Deep Drop Drama & Deep Sea Treasures β€” 4-Day Adventure Recap! 🐟

Our most recent 4-day Deep Drop Expedition was nothing short of a deep-sea rollercoaster!

We kicked things off with a slow but steady pick of snowy grouper, scattered tilefish, and all kinds of bizarre, bottom-dwelling deep-water creatures that crawled up from the abyss. Springtime brought in an enormous swarm of manta shrimp and other arthropods, which blanketed the bottom and put the brakes on the bite β€” a classic spring phenomenon, but one that makes you work for every fish.

🌬 Day 2 came with a twist of Mother Nature β€” a stiff 20 mph north wind clashing with a 3-knot southbound current made the deep zones practically unfishable. So we shifted gears and anchored up in the 400–500 ft range, working the hard bottom and grinding out a solid catch.

And grind we did.

πŸ”± The reward? A mixed bag of deepwater gold:

  • A great run of Queen Snapper

  • A handful of Chunky Tilefish

  • Beautiful Yellowedge and Scamp Grouper

  • And two Monster Kitty Mitchell grouperΒ that had the whole rail buzzing!

Even when the bite was slow, the camaraderie was high, the rods were bent, and the deep kept giving up her treasures one stop at a time.

Until next time β€” tight lines and deep drops!
